These money making ideas might seem very obvious to you, but they are practical and have worked for me and countless others. If you want to say “I need money now“, there are a few very quick ways to get cash now. The idea is simple, but may require a little effort on your part. Very often improving something by 10% is enough to be a big success.
So what is the fastest way to get cash now without having to rob a bank and risk spending your life behind bars? The answer is to sell your junk. Okay, maybe you don’t have only junk – then sell off the things you own that you do not absolutely need. One of the strategies that I keep in mind when I do this is the understanding that any financial setback is a current issue or limitation and does not reflect on the future. Meaning you can always buy more stuff (often better) in the future. The goal is to simply get cash now and worry about the future ideas for income sort itself out. Okay, so where do you sell your stuff? Here are a few simple ways to offload your junk.
Garage Sales
If you have a garage and a lot of items, you can simply open shop on the weekend and invite people into your garage to purchase items at a price you determine. This is a simple process and to market your business, it only requires a few poster board signs to place around town with arrows to your garage sale. I usually just use the following format in each sign:
* GARAGE SALE / ESTATE SALE / MOVING SALE
Be specific and if you can, add a headline. Headlines are what get people to act. You can say, must move now – selling everything priced to move.
* WHAT ARE YOU SELLING
List what you have for sale – clothes, dvd’s, games, books etc. This is important as it acts like a list of benefits. This is especially true if you have unique items that a person might be looking for or suddenly decide they need or want after seeing the advertisement.
* WHERE – draw arrows or include the address
Though an address would seem better, I myself just prefer the obvious and follow the arrows. However, this is only possible if the signs are put up close to your house. If not, be sure to include the address.
Craigslist
If you do not want to hassle with placing signs, but still want to sell your items locally, then a web site like craigslist.com would work out great. You can either ask the buyer to come to your house or meet you in a public location. Usually you can put a higher price tag on your items this way. I would still take the sale seriously. Though you may not be making road signs, your ad should still contain very detailed information about the product you are selling. Always include a picture as buyers are more likely to click on the ad if there is a photo attached of your product. Also, make it easy to buy, if you can deliver the product then be sure to state this on your ad and be clear about the various methods of payment you are willing to accept. I would avoid checks and stick with cash if possible.
Ebay
Finally, another great web strategy would be to use ebay and instead of having to meet people face to face, you can simply mail the product to them. This is great if you want to sell one item at a time. This strategy again allows you to set a higher price tag or allow people to bid for the item. You would follow the same process for showing your product as you would on craigslist. Using a site like Ebay in conjunction with PayPal you can offer more payment methods.
Remember, another man’s junk is another man’s treasure. You might not think that your items stuffing the closet or garage are worth anything to anyone but when you need money fast, this is one simple strategy to use.
